How We List Doctors
Last updated: September 28, 2026
Our rule
BookMyDoc never ranks doctors against each other. There is no "top doctor", no editorial pick, and no score that puts one doctor above another. Every doctor on the platform gets the same exposure over time.
The home screen
The doctors shown on the app's home screen rotate every day. The order is set by a fixed formula that combines the doctor's ID with the day's date, so it changes daily, is the same for every patient on that day, and cannot be influenced by anyone at BookMyDoc.
The first row shows one doctor per specialization before any specialization repeats. A dermatologist and a general physician are never placed in competition with each other.
Search
Search results are ordered only by how well a doctor matches what you typed: their name, their specialization, or the condition you searched for. When two doctors match equally well, the same daily rotation decides the order.
What money cannot buy
No doctor can pay to appear above another in the doctor list or in search. Sponsored banners on the home screen are a separate, clearly distinct section and never change the order of the list itself.
What you can sort by
If you want a different order, you can sort the doctor list yourself by consultation fee, years of experience, or name. These are objective, patient-chosen sorts and are applied exactly as you choose them.
Questions
If you are a doctor and want to understand exactly how your profile is shown, or a patient with a question about ordering, write to us.
